Phenomenology and Social Agent Representation in Psychosis: A Welcome Integration.

چکیده
Poletti and colleagues question whether the breadth of subjective and inter-subjective experience in psychosis can be reduced to problems with social agent representation. Their question is important, although we note our aim is not reductive and that we hope that a social agent representation approach is one of many possible phenomenological routes to a better neurocognitive understanding of psychosis. A key question phenomenology raises for us is why the experience of illusory social agents tends to emerge from the alterations in intersubjective experience and attunement that authors like Raballo (2017), Fuchs (2015), and Raballo and Krueger (2011) describe. This may suggest a progressive disturbance of social cognition where intersubjective instability is eventually re-cohered into ‘best fit’ social explanations that appear as illusory social agents. In concordance with Poletti and colleagues, we argue that a phenomenologically-informed cognitive science is essential for our future understanding of psychosis.

متن کاملRethinking Social Cognition in Light of Psychosis: Reciprocal Implications for Cognition and Psychopathology
The positive symptoms of psychosis largely involve the experience of illusory social actors and yet our current measures of social cognition, at best, only weakly predict their presence. We review evidence to suggest that the range of current approaches in social cognition is not sufficient to explain the fundamentally social nature of these experiences. We argue that social agent representatio...
متن کاملThe effects of social, cultural, economical and related factors on post partum psychosis
Background: Post partum psychosis is a mood disorder which starts 2 or 3 weeks after delivery. In acute form, the symptoms of this disorder are so obvious that the sick mother doesn’t want to take care of her child in some cases, she wants to hurt either the child or herself or both (the child & the mother). It seems that there are some psychosocial factors that cause this problem to occur. Ma...
